Travel Information and Questions

  • The wedding is on Saturday, February 27, 2027. We recommend arriving in Punta Cana at least one full day before the wedding so you have time to get through the airport, travel to the resort, and settle in before the big day.

If you would like a more relaxed start to the weekend or plan to join any pre-wedding events, consider arriving two or more days before the wedding and staying a few days after to enjoy the resort and the beach.

  • The best airport to use is Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). It is the main airport serving the Punta Cana resort area and is roughly 10–12 miles from Dreams Flora Resort & Spa, usually about a 20–25 minute drive depending on traffic.

Other airports in the Dominican Republic, such as Santo Domingo (SDQ), are much farther away and will add several hours of driving. For convenience and simplicity, we strongly recommend flying into PUJ if at all possible.

  • Once you land at Punta Cana International Airport, you have several options for getting to Dreams Flora Resort & Spa in Cabeza de Toro:

    • Private shuttle or transfer:
Many companies offer pre-booked private transfers between PUJ and Dreams Flora, with typical drive times of around 20–25 minutes. These services usually meet you in the arrivals area and take you directly to the resort. The resort can help arrange a transfer, and there are also reputable local transfer companies you can book online in advance.

    • Taxi:
Taxis are readily available at the airport. The ride is short and direct. Prices are generally quoted as a flat rate for the trip to the Cabeza de Toro area. You will pay in U.S. dollars or Dominican pesos, depending on the driver. Confirm the total fare before you get in.

    • Ride-share:
Ride-share options such as Uber may be available in the Punta Cana area, but service at the airport can vary. In many cases, a pre-booked shuttle or official taxi is the simplest and most reliable choice for arrival.

If you are unsure which option is best for you, a pre-booked private transfer or an official airport taxi is often the most straightforward and low-stress choice.

  • The wedding is in the Dominican Republic, so you will need a valid passport to travel. For most travelers, your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date and have at least one blank page for stamps, but please confirm the exact requirements for your citizenship and airline before you travel.

Many visitors from the United States can enter the Dominican Republic for a short tourist stay without a separate visa, but rules can change. Please check the current entry requirements on the U.S. State Department website or the Dominican Republic’s official sites when you book your trip.

The Dominican Republic also uses an electronic entry and exit form (“e-ticket”) that travelers complete online before arrival and departure. This form combines immigration, customs, and health information in one digital document.

  • A few practical details to keep in mind as you plan:

    • Time zone:
Punta Cana is on Atlantic Standard Time (AST), which is UTC-4. The Dominican Republic does not use daylight saving time. In late February, Punta Cana is typically one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time in the U.S.

    • Currency:
The local currency is the Dominican peso (DOP), often written as “RD$.” U.S. dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, especially at resorts and for tips, but it can be helpful to have some Dominican pesos for taxis, markets, and small purchases.

    • Weather in late February:
Late February is part of the dry season in Punta Cana. Daytime highs are usually in the low to mid-80s °F, with evenings in the upper 60s to low 70s °F. Brief showers are possible but typically pass quickly, and the ocean is warm and comfortable for swimming.

    • What to pack:
Pack lightweight, breathable clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes or sandals. If you plan to explore outside the resort, a light layer for breezy evenings and anything you prefer for sun and bug protection is a good idea.

If you have any questions as you book flights or transfers, please reach out. We want getting to Dreams Flora to be as simple and stress-free as possible so you can just show up and enjoy.
